Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree
Lean/Six Sigma Certification required (No exceptions)
QUALIFICATIONS:
•BA or BS in Operations Management, Business or Engineering or related field.
•MBA strongly preferred.
•5-10 years in a manufacturing leadership role or equivalent.
•Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts including 3-5 years of active demonstrated and successful implementation of those concepts.
•Familiarity and experience with TPM, preferably its introduction into an existing maintenance department.
•Proven history of increased responsibility and knowledge.
TRANSITION PLAN:
The Lean Operations Leader role will be responsible for and will lead the implementation of a Lean Culture within the plant operations while transitioning with the current Plant Manager into the Plant Manager role. This plan is designed to provide a smooth transition for the successful candidate to learn the operations from the existing Plant Manager, focus on building a lean framework within the operations, all while freeing her/him from the more administrative parts of the job. Following a successful transition period, the Operations leader will assume all Plant Manager Responsibilities.
Description of the Ideal Candidate:
Background in lean and lean implementation.
Strong leader with excellent communication skills.
Hands-on manager that is comfortable interacting with shop floor and Gemba (go see).
Desire to work in operations and not solely Lean/Six Sigma or real Lean/Six Sigma experiences to complement an operations background.
Proven ability to mentor and grow reports.

Client, a recognized worldwide leader in the supply of forged hardened steel rolls for the steel and aluminum industries, is seeking a Lean Operations Leader / Plant Manager for our Valparaiso, IN manufacturing plant.
OVERVIEW SUMMARY:
Lean Operations Leader for Valparaiso facility will deliver expected results in our 6 Key Business Drivers: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Engagement and Continuous Improvement.
Build operational talent, address key operational performance challenges, and implement sustainable improvements using Lean principles around the Key Business Drivers.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Establish and maintain high visibility to all employees and create a safe environment for participation. Promote hands-on, high involvement approaches to problem solving.
•Drive Lean culture through training and the establishment and implementation of Continuous Improvement activities including value stream mapping, root cause problem solving and Kaizens.
•Meet and exceed year over year financial targets through active continuous improvement projects focused on driving cost out of the business.
•Actively monitor and manage manpower head count within the production area. Recommend increases and decreases of headcount and capital expenditures to support production requirements with a focus on cost and budget.
•Lead and mentor plant staff in the development of a Winning Culture. Develop and improve the skills, knowledge and capabilities of the staff to ensure plant success and strong succession planning.
•Excellent organization, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
•Establish the Valparaiso facility as a World Class Lean Manufacturing facility.
