SUMMARY: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Systems Specialist is primarily responsible for all aspects of the plant control system, including, administration, maintenance, operations support, modifications and upgrades, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. Also provides on-site support for business network systems (eg: Local Area Network (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, PCs, printers), Production Management System, Computerized Maintenance Management System).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, programming, and configuration of Yokogawa DCS and related systems (approved changes)
• Yokogawa DCS administration and maintenance
• Support of daily operational needs; respond 24/7 to support calls on instrumentation and process control system issues.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Business system network administration and maintenance.
• Support of: Local Area Network (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, PCs, printers), Production Management System, Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Complete periodic backups
• Complete periodic preventive maintenance tasks
• Perform troubleshooting and resolution of problems with Microsoft Operating system
• Contribute to solving of complex process problems related to instrumentation and process control
systems.
• Contribute to development and implementation of instrument and control system “best practices”,
standards/policies, productivity improvements and work processes for operations that address safety,
quality, efficiency and reliability.
• Analysis of new requirements, evaluation, and identification of detailed instrument and control
system modifications necessary to implement solutions
• Work closely with production engineers and operators to make appropriate protocol, screen, report,
interface and system modifications.
• Maintain Interlock documentation and procedure for periodic interlock checks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required.
Education:
B.S. Degree in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical discipline preferred, minimum
of Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years experience in process control system support for chemical plant operations and some experience with business network systems.
• Demonstrated skilled at programming Distributed Control Systems
• Technically proficient in control system and instrumentation design, specification and maintenance
• Able to support management of business IT systems (Local Area Network (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, PCs, printers), Microsoft Operating System)
The requirements listed below are representative of desirable knowledge, skill, and/or ability.
• PC Based Distributed Control System experience (Yokogawa Centum VP preferred).
• Working knowledge of chemical process operations, OSHA and PSM.
• Working knowledge of Foundation Field Bus.
